September is Library Card Sign-up Month!
The Newark Public Library is proud to help serve our surrounding communities. Libraries are a welcoming environment for all people, serving as community hubs of inclusivity and accessibility.

Libraries give equal access to many materials from books in various formats, to movies and music, to various forms of equipment. Our community also has access to resources such as free Wi-Fi and computer usage, free educational and recreational programming for both youth and adults, and much more!

Library cards are free for anyone in our community, encourage your friends and family to sign-up for one today!
Summer Reading 2025 Recap
Youth Summer Reading Reflection
Summer Reading was a blast this year! Thank you to all that participated. We had a record summer with 270 registrations.  We had over 200 tickets in our weekly prizes and around 700 in our big prizes.

We colored our world with crafts, music and artwork including; Drumming with Mayukwa, Bubbles with Doug Rouguex, and Splat Sumthin' from Cortland. Summer Rec. joined us for weekly activities and made an art show of our programs.

We would love to see more Community involvement in next summer’s reading plans. For anyone who would love to volunteer time for programs or assist the library in expanding summer reading please reach out to our Head of Youth Services.

Next year’s theme is Dinosaurs, so be prepared for a roaring time.

Adult Summer Reading Reflection
Adult reading had just over 75 participants.  Thank you all for a fantastic summer. Persons that registered earned tickets for four different prizes. Tickets were awarded for program participation and of course reading. We kicked off summer reading with a tea party.

Thank you to Christie and Hayden Lawson of Better Together Herbal for sharing your delicious blended home-made teas with us. The library plans on inviting these two ladies back in the future.

Looking into the Fall I have added three new programs. Kitchen On A Dime, Cook Book Club and Classic Book Club all starting this September.

Changes To Hoopla Checkouts
Starting Monday, September 1st, the number of monthly checkouts on Hoopla will be adjusted from five to three.

We understand this change may be disappointing, and we want to be transparent about the reasons behind this decision. The increasing costs of digital content and the growing number of users have made it challenging to maintain our current Hoopla offerings. To ensure we can continue providing access to this valuable resource, we had to make a practical choice. By reducing the monthly checkout limit, we can better manage costs and avoid discontinuing the service entirely. This adjustment, along with our new library card policy, is essential for keeping Hoopla sustainable for everyone.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work to provide the best possible resources for our community.
Notice Regarding
Puzzle Donations

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who has generously donated puzzles to the library over the years. Your contributions have been a wonderful addition to our community. At this time, we have an overabundance of puzzles. To properly manage our current inventory and re-evaluate our process, we will not be accepting any new puzzle donations or continuing the puzzle exchange until further notice, effective September 1st.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

New Community Food and Hygiene Pantry

This fall, the library is launching a new initiative to support our community. We are working to establish an ongoing pantry that will provide non-perishable food and hygiene products for those in need.We are actively collaborating with local organizations to make this project a reality. Stay tuned for more details on how you can help and when the pantry will be open.
